First Day of Fall

The first day of fall is a great time to take care of the small things around your home. You will want to make sure your home is ready for the upcoming rain and snow. Here are some ideas to make sure your home is ready on the first day of fall.

Peeling Paint – Inspect your exterior siding, soffit, fascia, and trim to make sure there is no peeling or blistering. If this is left uncorrected the material will deteiroate.

Gutters – Inspect your gutters to make sure there are no clogs forming. Inspect joints, brackets, and downspouts as well. You may need to install gutterguards if you are constantly cleaning out debris.

Windows – Inspect your windows and make there are no drafts. A temporary fix would be to caulk any areas, but the permanent solution is to have them replaced.

Roof – Inspect as much of the roof as you can safely. You will want to make sure there are no leaks, missing or loose shingles. The upcoming weather can wreak havoc and it will be better to deal with the issue now rather than in the middle of winter.
