Gutters and Downspouts

Gutters and Downspouts are components of your Eavestrough. Gutters are the long narrow section that holds and carries the water and debris. It flows through and comes down the downspouts which are pointed away from the homeGuttersandDownspouts.

To keep your foundation safe, sometimes you will need an elbow installed at the bottom of the downspout to have the water carried further away.

There are a few different styles of Gutters and Downspouts to choose from. The most traditional option is the spike; which is essentially nails driven into the front of your gutter all the way into the fascia and rafter end. The spike style is not recommended as they can become loose or bent caused by heavy snow.

The next option that most Canadians have is the standard hanger which is slightly more durable than the nails however it is still only a basic option that may not last for many years. A similar product to this is the screw-on-hanger. This option has the installation process go much smoother but still may not hold up for very many years.

GuttersandDownspoutsThe last option is one that is becoming ever more popular as it surpasses all the previous methods. The T-Rex hanger is produced by Alu-Rex which specializes in innovative Gutters and Downspouts.

The T-Rex system has hidden fasteners and is 3x more secure than any other style mentioned. It is made of a continuous system with holes perforated through the top.

This is to keep debris out and allow water to flow free through the Gutters and out through the Downspouts. If the debris and water are not drained properly you will run the risk of having your home damaged which will cost thousands to fix.
